Absolutely nothing. No light. No sky. No land. It's incomprehensible to our finite thinking-the barren nothingness that existed before Genesis 1:1. Then suddenly, through the work of the Almighty, God supplanted nothingness with "the heavens and the earth." The divine hand reached through the void and produced a place, a world, a universe. Through the magnificent convergence of the workings of the Godhead-with the Son enacting the will of the Father as the Agent of creation, and the Holy Spirit as the hovering Presence-nothing became something. History began its long march toward today. The first verse of Genesis provides us with sufficient concepts to contemplate for a lifetime. That introductory statement speaks of enough glory, enough majesty, enough awe to leave us speechless before God. Just as today we would have no life, no breath, no existence without His sustaining action, neither would we have the cosmos without His mighty act at the moment of creation. In awe we wonder what went on before "the beginning." With breathless praise we marvel at the words "God created the heavens and the earth." We read-and we stand in adoration. "Nothing" has never been so fascinating! - Dave Branon 아무것도 없었습니다. 완전히 아무것도 없었습니다. 빛도, 하늘도, 땅도 없었습니다. 창세기 1장 1절 이전에 존재했던 황량한 무의 상태를 우리의 제한된 생각으로는 도저히 상상할 수 없습니다. 그런데 전능하신 하나님께서 단번에 무의 상태를 "하늘과 땅"으로 바꿔놓으셨습니다. 하나님의 거룩한 손이 허공에 닿자 지역과 세상과 우주가 만들어졌습니다. 하나님의 유일한 대행자로서 하나님의 뜻을 이행하시는 성자 예수님과, 우리 주위에 임재하시는 분으로서의 성령님과 함께, 하나님의 장엄한 역사로 무에서 유가 창조되었습니다. 오늘에 이르는 긴 여정의 역사가 그때 시작되었던 것입니다. 창세기의 첫 구절은 우리가 일생동안 깊이 음미해 보기에 충분한 개념들을 지니고 있습니다. 그 첫 번째 문장은 하나님 앞에서 우리의 말문이 막힐 만큼 충분한 영광과, 전능함과, 경외감을 말해주고 있습니다. 하나님의 창조사역이 없었다면 오늘날 우리의 생명도, 호흡도, 존재도 있을 수 없는 것과 마찬가지로, 창조의 순간에 그분의 전능하신 역사가 없었으면 우주도 존재하지 않을 것입니다. "창조" 이전에 무슨 일이 벌어지고 있었는지 우리는 경외감을 갖고 궁금해 합니다. "하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라"는 말씀에 대해 우리는 숨 막히는 찬미의 마음으로 감탄합니다. 우리는 그 말씀을 읽고 그분을 경외하며 서 있습니다. "무"라는 말이 그토록 매력적인 적은 일찍이 없었습니다! [2] Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. [3] And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. [4] God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. [5] God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day. [6] And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." [7] So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. [8] God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day. [9] And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. [10] God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. [11] Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. [12] The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. [13] And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day. 창세기 1:1-13 [1] 태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라 [2] 땅이 혼돈하고 공허하며 흑암이 깊음 위에 있고 하나님의 신은 수면에 운행하시니라 [3] 하나님이 가라사대 빛이 있으라 하시매 빛이 있었고 [4] 그 빛이 하나님의 보시기에 좋았더라 하나님이 빛과 어두움을 나누사 [5] 빛을 낮이라 칭하시고 어두움을 밤이라 칭하시니라 저녁이 되며 아침이 되니 이는 첫째 날이니라 [6] 하나님이 가라사대 물 가운데 궁창이 있어 물과 물로 나뉘게 하리라 하시고 [7] 하나님이 궁창을 만드사 궁창 아래의 물과 궁창 위의 물로 나뉘게 하시매 그대로 되니라 [8] 하나님이 궁창을 하늘이라 칭하시니라 저녁이 되며 아침이 되니 이는 둘째 날이니라 [9] 하나님이 가라사대 천하의 물이 한 곳으로 모이고 뭍이 드러나라 하시매 그대로 되니라 [10] 하나님이 뭍을 땅이라 칭하시고 모인 물을 바다라 칭하시니라 하나님의 보시기에 좋았더라 [11] 하나님이 가라사대 땅은 풀과 씨 맺는 채소와 각기 종류대로 씨 가진 열매 맺는 과목을 내라 하시매 그대로 되어 [12] 땅이 풀과 각기 종류대로 씨 맺는 채소와 각기 종류대로 씨 가진 열매 맺는 나무를 내니 하나님의 보시기에 좋았더라 [13] 저녁이 되며 아침이 되니 이는 셋째 날이니라
